Further details about ticket sales will be available soon!

Supporting young people in Wakefield

Our purpose

WACCL (Wakefield Christmas Charity Lunch) is held annually to raise valuable funds for local children’s charities. With the help of local business we raise an average of £30,000 a year for local causes,

Causes we support

Levi’s Star was established as a charity in August 2008. The charity is in memory of my gorgeous little boy Levi, who tragically lost his precious life to a brain tumour, just 6 weeks after the devastating diagnosis. Levi was only 6 1/2 years old. (See Levi’s story) Levi’s Star supports children with brain tumours and their families throughout Yorkshire.
Star is a small charity set up to offer support to children, young adults up to 25 years, and families across the Wakefield District, affected by the death of someone important to them – a parent, carer, friend, a sister, stepbrother, grandparent … addressing their needs in ways that are Compassionate, Comprehensive, and Accessible.
Theatre Royal Performance Academy and Performance Academy Kidz are weekend performance training programmes for young people in the Wakefield area.
The Give A Duck Foundation is a children’s cancer charity, supporting local children who have been diagnosed with cancer throughout the UK. Chemo Duck is fitted with medical lines and ports to mirror those of the child. Play Leaders, through play therapy use Chemo Duck to prepare children for their treatment, be it an appointment with their Consultant, administering chemotherapy or taking blood samples. We want to provide Chemo Duck packs to every specialist centre in childhood cancer in the UK.
Cyclists Fighting Cancer provides a unique and highly effective way of helping kids with cancer through activity and exercise by supplying them with new lightweight bikes and specially adapted trikes to help in their rehabilitation. These bikes and trikes encourage them to get outside and get active, significantly improving their physical and mental health, reducing their social isolation and providing some much-needed fun and family time too!
We help people with deafblindness or complex disabilities to communicate, experience the world and fulfil their potential. Thousands of people with complex disabilities, and those who are deafblind, are still missing out on the vital support they need. And the pandemic has only made things harder. It’s made existing barriers worse and exposed new issues. But throughout, Sense has adapted and reached people in new ways. Now, we want to go further. Our goal is to support ten times more people living with complex disabilities by 2026. That’s 30,000 people over five years.
Our company and training content has been built based on personal experience, our success comes from our desire to influence change and promote positives outcomes through effective education and training. We guarantee you will leave feeling much more confident, resilient, courageous and feeling empowered.
